The last Tuesday of the month has once again rolled around and you know what that means! May book review! Let’s dive right in I guess.
The first book I read this month was The Giver by Lois Lowry. And I have to say I loved it. Her writing is intricately woven, but clear and easy to read. The book is very full and well-rounded and I couldn’t put it down. She keeps your attention with every word, luring you deeper into the “utopian” society that she’s created so perfectly, leaving nothing out. I was thoroughly impressed with her writing and story. I can’t even describe how satisfying every scene was.

The second book I read was A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks which was amazing. I was surprised by how different it was from the movie though. I expected it, obviously, but it was still a bit of a shock. Anyway, I really loved it. I have to say, though, I didn’t cry. Probably because I had already seen the movie and knew what was going to happen. All the foreshadowing, the leading up to the big reveal, was noticed instantly by me. That being said, the foreshadowing was amazing. I’ve only read a few other books with foreshadowing as good as it was done by Nicholas Sparks. The writing style was a little clunky in places, but I think that was intentional to provide more character to Landon. All in all it was a really good read. Well done again, Nicholas Sparks.

So that’s actually all I read this month, but I am in the middle of reading The Iliad, The Sword of Shannara, and Unbroken, so hopefully those will make it into the next book review. Next week I’ll be publishing an article for curing writers’ block. I know, so overdone, but I promise I’m not just regurgitating the same five things everyone says to do.
In other news, it’s a little over two weeks until the release date of Effeminate Earth (it is available in hardback now, so go check that out)! Isn’t that crazy?! It certainly doesn’t feel real. I can’t believe that it’s been so long. I mean, I started this blog last December, I think. It hardly feels like it was that long ago. And of course I wrote Effeminate Earth last November. And look how far it’s come. I’m in awe. I never thought when I was writing it that I would be publishing it. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me and helped me accomplish my dream.
Thank you all for reading!
