First off happy Halloween! I hope everyone had a good one.
And yes…I know the last time I posted was in August. And it’s November already! Time really flies. It seems like the year started just yesterday, and it’s almost over already. It’s a little unnerving to be completely honest. But I’m getting off topic.
Since today is the first of November, that can only mean one thing–NaNoWriMo. Also known as National Novel Writing Month, a challenge to complete a novel, or 50,000 words, in 30 days. And although I haven’t known NaNoWriMo for long, it holds a special place with me since it’s what spurred Effeminate Earth. (If you haven’t check it out yet, click the link to buy it, or go to my Books page and see it there). And this year, I’ll be working on Effeminate Earth‘s sequel. I started it soon after I had completed Effeminate Earth, but I only got around 7,000 words in before suffering from total and complete writers’ block, which I actually wrote an article about.
I’m hoping that NaNo is going to give me the boost and motivation I need to push through it.
But I know it’s going to be really hard, maybe even harder than it was last year. And I was toying with the idea of doing a blogathon on top of it, where I blog every day for the next month with writing tips and prompts and ways to push through the writers’ block.
I will have a lot of extra free time this month though because I recently had my appendix removed and am recovering from that.
Hope we can enjoy this journey together!
